How Do I Choose the Right Music for My Ceremony?

The bride’s entrance is often the most anticipated moment of the entire ceremony. All eyes turn toward you, emotions run high, and the music becomes part of a memory that will last a lifetime.

So, how do you choose the perfect song?

Some couples are drawn to music that is classic and timeless. Traditional selections such as Canon in D or Clair de Lune have been wedding favorites for generations because of their elegance and beauty.

Others prefer something more contemporary and romantic. Songs such as Can’t Help Falling in Love, A Thousand Years, or All of Me have become modern wedding classics, offering a deeply emotional soundtrack for that unforgettable walk down the aisle.

But the most important factor isn’t whether a song is classical, modern, popular, or unique.

It should be meaningful to you

When you hear your processional song years from now, it should bring back memories—memories of how you met, experiences you’ve shared, and the journey that brought you together.

As a ceremony musician, I’ve been asked to perform hundreds of different songs for bridal entrances. One of my recent brides chose a song I had never heard before. In fact, every piece of music she selected for her ceremony was completely new to me.

Her choices all came from video games.

At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But as I learned and performed the music, I discovered that these were some of the most beautiful melodies I had heard in years. More importantly, they held special meaning for the couple. They loved playing video games together, and those songs represented memories they had created throughout their relationship. That’s what made them perfect.

The best wedding music isn’t necessarily the most popular song on a wedding playlist. It’s the song that tells your story.

Your love story already knows the perfect song

Whether your choice is a classical masterpiece, a love song from the radio, a favorite movie theme, or even music from a video game, choose something that speaks to you as a couple. Choose music that brings back memories, makes you smile, and reminds you why you’re standing at the altar together.

Years from now, when you hear those notes again, you’ll be transported right back to that moment—the moment you walked toward the person you love and began your life together.
